Planting A Living Fence With Camellia Sasanqua

Your home and garden should be your sanctuary. Sometimes after a long day at work all you want to do is come home and retreat to the privacy of your outdoor garden space. A planting of evergreen ornamentals always makes a nice backdrop and adds the privacy that you deserve. Camellias Sasanqua is one of the best evergreen ornamentals for achieving this goal of privacy but also providing beauty for your garden. Camellias sasanqua is an evergreen ornamental shrub that has a dense growth habit and flowers mid to late fall. It can reach heights of 10 to 12 feet or higher if you like or you can maintain at the desired height by pruning.

What makes camellia sasanqua different from other camellias is that this species of Camellia can tolerate full sun and actually will perform and bloom much better with more sun. The blossoms of camellia sasanqua range from white to dark pink to red with varying shades all in between. Blossoms shatter as they fall from the plant making a gorgeous carpet of petals on the ground beneath them.

Plant your Camellia Sasanqua in soil that is moist but well draining. Make sure that you provide adequate nutrition and moisture especially in times of drought.  To create a living fence or hedge plant your Camellia Sasanqua 4-5 foot apart.
